THE BODYS AT HOME

Hire Band B
First Draft March 2002

As the only true period musical of all fourteen, Set in the late 18th century, The Body’s At Home’ is an adventure about a family who are threatened with tyrannical behaviour from one of the councillors an Mr Edwin McAdam.

Mr McAdam hatches a plan to destroy the village green of Budlington in favour of a new turnpike. Of course in the late 18th century he could have got away with it because on the face of it, he was a respectable enough councillor.

However local characters recognised flaws in McAdam’s mannerisms that gave himself away until his eventual arrest when he emerged from the Sunday service/

There are around fifteen songs including. ‘I have a plan’ - I will strive to keep the town perfect. – Locked in jail – On this fair May Day - We’ll foil the man of his evil plan - and more

The costume potential for this show could be demanding with every cast member in 18th century costume. Scenery can be simple with gentle suggestive sets for the Body’s house and so on

‘The Bodys At Home’ was developed from a play with the same name written by Mr Daniel Collier, Andy’s father who wrote several plays for his seven children to perform at Christmas time to close family friends.
