Singing Tuition

Andy teaches singing to anyone aged from 10 to 100 or more! He will take younger children but always exercises cautionary advice for this age group as their voices only need regular school or activity singing to help voice development

He does not run back to back sessions as he likes to remain fresh for each student so he can give his best

He teaches mostly at home but can travel to a students home for a small extra charge

He encourages the student to understand how his or her voice works so that they can then get the best out of it

He likes to encourage the student to build their own confidence in their singing whether informal use or performing

He does not exclude anyone and will be honest in giving anyone an assessment on their voice.

All sessions for adults are a full hour and often go on longer in Andy’s enthusiasm!

Andy uses CD backing tracks for singers who enjoy using these as well as his own keyboard or piano accompaniment

Andy has huge experience in youth musical theatre but his teaching is not exclusively on this subject in style nor in repertoire. He has choir training experience not only from his present choir work with the Drayton Parslow Singers (P 4) but also from his own schooldays when he was in the chapel choir at St Georges Harpenden and gained considerable inspiration for the choir training of international choir director Michael Howard who also ran the singing group the ‘Renaissance Singers’ based in London.

Andy also followed this up by studying singing at the Royal College Of Music under Hervey Alan and then Gordon Clinton who were both professional singers of high repute in their times
