HOWZAT ! Hire Band A This musical comedy show ‘Howzat! ‘ is probably the most humerous of my shows as the first draft production kept the audience laughing in the aisles and subsequent productions have done the same. Basically it’s the story of local rivalry between ‘Soulbourne’ one well run local cricket club and ‘Stakeley’ a messy local side that isn’t run well. Long established rivalry between them causes friction in their fixtures until one day that friction boiled over into Soulbourne walking off the pitch in disgust. Stakeley decide to get their own back by raiding the better run club’s pavilion and stealing their trophies. Lively scenes occur when Soulbourne discover them and the show continues with the local vicar deciding to defect to Stakeley and give them help .Doreen Harton has come from the lotto board to see if the two clubs qualify for an award. But Doreen Harton does not realise the intensity of hatred between the clubs and when she re arranges the fixture between them, the show ends as it began, with a match in serious dispute! But on the way there is lots of action and fun. Around eighteen songs scored for voice and piano including ‘Creep By’ ‘Cricket that’s our game’ ‘Its always been our aim’ ‘The project must stay’ ‘Poor Misses Worry’ ‘Think of our plan’ ‘Hymn of the shield’ and many more! Around thirty characters adorn the show with plenty of excitement and chorus action to help the cricket playing scenes and the village and pub scenes also.
